Chris Kidder is a Los Angeles-based stand-up comedian known for his sharp wit and storytelling that draws from his eclectic life experiences. Born on a military base in Jacksonville, Florida, during a road trip, he spent his early years in Houston, Texas, before moving to snowy Buffalo, New York, at age 11. After high school, he joined the Army National Guard under a six-year contract. In 2000, he relocated to Hollywood, California, via Greyhound bus, aiming to break into acting. While he landed a few small roles, he found more consistent work behind the camera, eventually joining the I.A.T.S.E Local 80 union as a production grip. (Chris Kidder)

The 2008 recession led Kidder to pursue a business degree, and he graduated from the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business in 2013. He then worked in commercial and residential real estate but felt a pull back to the arts. In 2018, an incident at a Starbucks drive-thru—resulting in a $6,000 expense—prompted his wife to suggest he try stand-up comedy as a form of therapy.
