Will Rogers (1879–1935) was an American humorist, actor, and social commentator known for his witty and folksy observations on politics, society, and everyday life. He started his career as a vaudeville performer, showcasing his talent in rope tricks and cowboy-style humor. He later became a star in silent films and early talkies, writing newspaper columns and radio broadcasts that made him one of the most beloved public figures of his time.
Rogers’ humor was sharp but warm, often poking fun at politicians and current events with lines like, “I never met a man I didn’t like” and “I’m not a member of any organized political party—I’m a Democrat.”
Tragically, he died in a plane crash in 1935 in Alaska, alongside famed aviator Wiley Post. His legacy lives on through his films, writings, and the Will Rogers Memorial in Oklahoma.
