Phyllis Diller

Phyllis Diller (1917–2012) was an American stand-up comedian, actress, and voice artist. Born on July 17, 1917, in Lima, Ohio, she gained fame in the 1960s for her groundbreaking and influential comedy. Diller was known for her self-deprecating humor, eccentric stage persona, and distinctive cackling laugh.

She made numerous appearances on television, including guest spots on variety shows, sitcoms, and talk shows. Phyllis Diller also acted in films and provided the voice for characters in animated projects. Her career spanned several decades, and she became one of the first female comedians to achieve widespread success in a predominantly male industry.

Diller’s comedy often focused on her fictional husband “Fang” and her exaggerated experiences as a housewife. Her unique style and trailblazing contributions to comedy paved the way for future generations of female comedians. Phyllis Diller passed away on August 20, 2012, at the age of 95.
